Matches 2022/23

12 March 2023 Last chance - Grove pond

As the match fishing season draws quietly to a close this match started with some confusion over the draw time. Some thought 7am (as per the match calendar) and others thought 8am. Whatever the rights and wrongs things finally got underway for the seven anglers who fished.

As there were so few only the roadside was included in the draw, the day was mild with a gusty wind making pole control difficult but at least it stayed dry.

Of the seven anglers, five caught fish. It was notable that the only species of fish caught was bream, not even a small roach made its presence known.

Top angler on the day was Stuart Harrop who managed to take 7 bream from peg 2 for a creditable 17lb 8oz. Next door, in peg 3, was Bob Steele who took 5 bream for second place with 15lb 1oz. With With 4 bream Matt Todd weighed in exactly 10lb for third place.

Danny Dance had 3 bream and Vicky Knowlson had 2.

On reflection, there was no need for the weighing scales, a simple fish count would have given the same placings.

And so it ends, the match calendar for 2023/24 will be published soon. Let us all hope for a season where the calendar isn't thrown on its head by covid, ridiculous heat waves, frozen ponds, Thames Water digging up the road or any other reason.

26 February 2023 Blind Pairs - Grove pond

Well, this was a bit of a grueler and no mistake, eight anglers turned out on a very cold February morning. Of those eight only three caught anything at all and there were no bites to be had in the first three hours of the match.

Danny Dance fished a single fluoro-pinkie in peg 19 and waited for over three and a half hours for his first bite. Just like busses, wait all that time and three come along at once, in a short space of time three bream resided in his net giving him an unassailable 6lb 9oz. Second place went to Vicky Knowlson next to Danny in peg 20, who took two bream on single red maggot, both fish coming in the last half hour. The only other angler to catch, and taking third place, was Matt Todd. Also fishing single red maggot he took 2 small bream and four or five small perch for 4lb 9oz.

Bob Steele almost made it to the leader board but he blew it by missing his one and only bite.

For the pairs result, each of the three anglers who caught were in different pairings, consequently Danny Dance and Gerry Austin won with 8 points, second was Vicky Knowlson and Tony Brooker and third was Matt Todd and Bob Steele.

The only other pair, Sam Matthews and Phil Mansbridge, failed to score any points.

5 February 2023 10th Aggregate - Grove pond (postponed from 14 August)

After much delay the rescheduled 5th aggregate took place on the pond. Pride of place on the day went to match secretary Bob Steele closely followed by chairman Matt Andrew. Both were at the southern end of the pond (pegs 11 and 15 respectively) and were engaged in a small fish battle which was being won by Matt until, by a fine bit of angling skill (or luck – I’ll leave the reader to make up their mind), Bob hooked and landed a last minute tench - when I say "last minute" - as the all-out was called he lifted his line out of the water only to find said tench attached! This took his weight to 6lb 5oz, just 4oz ahead of Matt’s 6lb 1oz.

Weights then fell sharply, third was Gerry Austen in peg 7 with 3lb 15oz but Tony Brooker in peg 2 fell just one ounce short of an envelope, taking 3lb 14oz out of peg 2.

The tales woe for the day start with Nathan Steele in peg 1 who managed to lose 2 bream which would almost certainly have taken him to the winner’s podium. It was also a bad day for poles, Matt Andrew dropped his flask onto his No.6 section causing irreparable damage but I’m sure when he tots up the cost he’ll be glad to know that the flask survived intact! The pole breakage infection spread to Steve Ferris, next to Matt in peg 14 who managed to shatter his No.4 section.

An honourable mention goes to Gordon Thomas who, as far as my records show, has not fished a match with us before, although he failed to weigh in I hope that the day was enjoyable and that he is seen on the banks this coming season.

As far as the aggregate trophy is concerned, congratulations go to Nathan Steele who won with 156 points. Nathan only missed one match which meant he was in the strong position of being able to drop his lowest points match, this being the 7th aggregate where he only picked up 11 points.

Second was Tony Brooker, just short of Nathan with 150 points. Tony fished 8 matches which meant that all his points counted and he never recovered from his 10th place (13 points) at Buscott Park.

The ever consistent Steve Ferris came in third with 144 points.

The club would like to thank Bob Steele for his work on the match scene. The club extends especial thanks to Vicky Knowlson who, unfortunately for the club, is standing down.

A new assistant match secretary will be elected at the AGM.

11 December 2022 Christmas match - Grove pond

With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore

T’was the match before Christmas, when all across the pond

Not a creature was stirring, not even a frond

Of weed or wind or flick of fishy fin

When ten anglers arrived, all determined to win

The prize of the day and awe of their mates

By catching the most and topping the weights.

Ice was a problem but Vicky and Bob were down before

To break the ice, though the weather was raw

More breaking was needed as the water was frozen

With numbered chocolate coins were the pegs chosen

Within five minutes of starting, Les Teale took the lead

With a perch of one ounce – would the fish feed?

Oh No! They wouldn’t, that was his only bite

With all else he did the fish took fright.

It was a day for small hooks, bloodworm and joker

But at those prices baiting up is a choker

The day was won by Matt Andrew, peg eight

Three pounds twelve ounces his total weight

Consisting of roach, he was ahead of the field

With regular catching was his victory sealed.

Rob Wilkinson was second, with half winning weight

Of one pound seven that came to his bait.

In peg nineteen Nathan Steele was stirred

To manage twelve ounces to place him third.

And so on to the pub, like a ravenous beast

Did the throng descend for a Christmas feast.

20 November 2022 10th Aggregate - Grove pond

As the temperature continues to fall the task of the anglers to take something to the scales gets harder, of the twelve who fished only five caught more than two pounds. Like last time, the weigh in was conducted in the rain.

Top weight on the day, taking more than the rest of the field put together was Matt Todd in peg 1, who weighed in 17lb 10oz from per 1. His net comprised mostly of bream but he did manage to lose a couple of carp. Second was Ray Rolfe with 5lb 4oz in peg 6 and third, almost opposite Matt, on peg 20, was Jim Routledge with 2lb 13oz.

There was a rivaly between Vicky Knowlson and Les Teale, drawn next to each other on pegs 19 and 18 respectively. They both took 7oz to the scales but it would have been a differnt story had not Les, after landing a decent bream, missed both his keepnets and saw it swim away unweighed. He also managed to lose another bream at the net thereby winning this week's "Tale of woe" award.

The leader board for the aggregate trophy saw Nathan Steele rise to the top, with his 18 points on the day lifting him to 151 points, above Steve Ferris who didn't fish this match and stayed on 139 points. Matt Todd's excellent first place on the day catapulted him 3 places up the leader board into third, he is just 1 point behind Steve.. All these three anglers have missed just one match so, at the moment, all their points count to their total (they've each fished 8 matches).

It looks like the awarding of the trophy will come down to the wire at the last match, this will be the rearranged match 5, the date of which has yet to be confirmed.

Please note that the points on the summary table are the best 8 results only, the weakest result from the nine matches fished so far are excluded.

6 November 2022 9th Aggregate - Grove pond

In a complete weather reversal from the last match where the skies cleared as the day progressed, here it got progressively wetter through the morning, leading to a very soggy weigh-in. The water levels are still well down and coupled with falling temperatures meant that this was harder than expected.

Top of the leader board on the day was Nathan Steele who has put in a couple of strong performances lately, winning this and the last match. Here he took 10lb 3oz from peg 1, consisting of a tench, a few bream and some "pesky" perch (his words, not mine). He managed to lose one carp that couldn't be stopped despite his pole being fitted with matron's knicker elastic (black hydro).

Second was Derek Wilby with a mixed bag of 6lb 1oz from peg 16, closely followed by Tony Brooker with 5lb 12oz from peg 8.

The honours for "tale of woe for the day" go to Vicky Knowlson who managed to lose 5 or 6 carp from peg 15, ending the day with just 6oz and, reportedly, a broken top kit.

Steve Ferris remains top of the leader board with 139 points, but a poor showing over the last 3 matches has allowed Nathan Steele to jump into second place and close to within striking distance of the lead, he now has 133 points. Tony Brooker has slipped from second to third but with 131 points the gap is tiny.

Normally at this stage in proceedings (aggregate match 9) the points total would be adjusted to drop out the lowest scoring match, but because of the forced postponement of match 5 this hasn't happened yet. The leader board is very tight and the aggregate trophy remains within reach of at least half a dozen anglers. It will all come down to the points dropped in the best 8 from 10 rule. The new, rearranged, date for match 5 will be advised as soon as possible.

Who need Qatar when you've got a competition like this?

23 October 2022 8th Aggregate - Grove pond

"Merde, il a plu" - as the french would say! For the draw and the first hour of the match it came down in torrents but did clear somewhat as the morning progressed. Twelve anglers put on their waterproofs and attended the match. The water was clear and the levels remain low despite the recent rain (we'll need months of rain to recover the summer losses).

As for the match itself, the shallow water at the north end of the pond fished best, top honours went to Nathan Steele from peg 21 with 15lb 1oz. Ray Rolfe, in peg 1, was almost opposite Nathan and managed 13lb 10oz for second place. Third weight was over 8lb off the pace, Derek Wilby took ust 5lb 5oz from peg 3.

The crucians and roach failed to show in any numbers, most of the lower weights relied on small perch for the bulk of their nets. Surprise of the day was that Steve Ferris, usually Mr Reliable, ended up in 10th place despite drawing peg 2.

The dropping of points by Steve Ferris (for the second match in a row) has opened up the leader board, Steve remains in the lead with 124 points but the gap has been closed by Tony Brooker and Nathan Steele, who tie for second spot with 111 points.

9 October 2022 7th Aggregate - Grove pond

With autumn showing itself in lower water temperatures the weights were expected to be down on recent matches and so it proved. The pond remains extremely low and this, it is felt, isn't helping matters.

Top weight on the day was 13lb 10oz from peg 20 taken by Tony Brooker who was 2lb clear of second placed Gerry Austin with 11lb 7oz from peg 11. Bob Alder, in third place managed 10lb 5oz from peg 19.

Those were the only three anglers who managed more than 10lb, weights fell sharply after that but, on the bright side, nobody blanked.

Bob Steele managed to celebrate his resignation as match secretary …...... by coming last! And to make matters worse, he was comprehensively next pegged by his better half, Vicky.

The aggregate leader, Steve Ferris, could only manage tenth place, his 12 points on the day, but he stays at the top with a total of 111 to date. This is still 19 points clear of Tony Brooker, his winning 22 points lifting him to second place with 92 overall.

Third place is tied between Nathan Steele and Matt Todd, both have 89 points, although, as things stand, honours would go to Nathan as he has more match wins than Matt.

Last years winner, Jim Routledge is still well down the field with 57 points but with 4 matches still to go there’s all to play for, especially as things get harder as it gets colder.

25 September 2022 6th Aggregate - River Thames, Newbridge

With the distinct lack of rain over this parched summer the Thames behaved more like an overgrown canal than one of the three biggest rivers in this country!

Summer had also given way to autumn, and the thirteen anglers who turned up found the the draw and setup taking place shrouded in mist. All three meadows were included so there was a lot of room for some of the anglers.

As it turned out the anglers anglers with the shortest walk to their pegs fared best. At the very downstream end of the first meadow in peg 5 Ray Rolfe fished tares with hemp to take top honours with a mainly roach bag for 9lb 1oz, he was closely followed by Les Teale who fished hemp in peg 8 for 8lb 7oz (pegs 6 & 7 weren't drawn). As chair of the hosting club Les had home advantage, it was also his second second place in succession, achieving the same position two weeks ago. Third place went to Steve Ferris from peg 19 in the middle meadow with 5lb 7oz.

Third place on the day now puts Steve Ferris in a commanding lead for the aggregate trophy, he has 99 points from the five matches fished so far (match 5, which was scheduled for 14 August, needs to be rearranged). He is 21 points clear of Nathan Steele on 78 points, who is only 2 points clear of Derek Wilby in third.

Last year's champion, Jim Routledge, is currently languishing well down the table but could still mount a late challenge.

September 2022 Wantage & Grove Vs. The Plough - Hanney pond - round 2

After getting routed by 80 points to 55 in round 1 The Plough were looking for revenge in their home leg of this annual fixture, a lead of 25 points looked unassailable.

The pond fished poorly but at as it is stream fed and dammed the levels remain constant despite the drought conditions.

All the 16 anglers caught but only 6 had more than one pound. The top two weights went to The Plough, Steve Ferris had 3lb 2oz from the shallow water in peg 1 closely followed by The Plough's chairman Les Teale in peg 8 with 3lb exactly. Phil Mansbridge brough some points back the Wantage and Grove with 2lb 8oz from peg 18 for third palce. The next two places went to Danny Dance and Bill Hailey for The Plough.

By now things were looking rocky for Wantage and Grove's lead from the first leg. The Plough took the day by 80 points to 56. When added to round one's results Wantage and Grove scraped home over the two legs by just a single point, 136 against The Plough's 135.

Last year's winner Matt Andrew was last this year, managing just 2oz for a single point, but in the great scheme of things, as the results turned out - that was a winning point!

4 September 2022 Committee Cup - Grove pond

A field of 13 invited anglers fished this match and there was a strong return to form for Jim Routeledge who stormed to first place with 31lb 6oz from peg 10, He was 14lb clear of second placed Steve Ferris who took 17lb 9oz out of peg 3. Third was Nathan Steele with 15lb 1oz.

Of the 13 anglers who fished, 11 took fish to the scales, four angler had more than ten pounds but the pond is suffering from extremely low water levels. Anglers around the country must be hoping for a wet and mild winter to get the ground-water levels back to where they should be!

20 August 2022 Memorial Day Match - Grove pond

Unfortunately, only 7 anglers attended this match but there were some fine weights taken and some strong lines broken.

Congratulations on the day go to Bob Alder with an impressive 48lb 5oz from peg 18, his catch included a number of decent carp and marks Bob's third victory in a row in this fixture. He has done this with consistently high weights, averaging over 40lb during that time.

Second, and pegged next to Bob in peg 16, was Vicky Knowlson, whilst missing any weight-boosting carp she caught crucians from the off and, as they slowed, continued to take small silvers consistently to end up with 23lb 5oz. This was enough to hold off third placed Ray Rolfe, he had 20lb 15oz from peg 1, but it was a case of what might have been as he lost at least 5 carp.

There was a battle-royal going on in the corner to avoid the wooden spoon, Bob Steele was going fish-to-fish with Pascal Hogan in pegs 10 and 11 respectively. Bob came out the winner by just 2oz (4lb 2oz againt 4lb on the dot).

For the charity side of things, the draw for donations went to the Dawson family, the match fees will be donated to a charity nominated by them.

The next matches are the two invitation only events. Firstly, the committee cup on on the pond on 4 September and then the all important second leg of the W&G Vs. The Plough, held on Hanney pond on 11 September.

5th Aggregate - Grove pond - postponed

At the time of writing (Friday 12 August) we are in the midst of the second heatwave of the summer. Consequently, for fish welfare, the 5th aggregate, due to take place on Sunday 14 August has been postponed.

Further details to follow as soon as they are available.

31 July 2022 4th Aggregate - Grove pond

The evening before this match saw a great many messages on the W&G Chat WhatsApp group seeking a lift for Nathan Steele, at one time walking looked a good option but Tony Brooker came to Nathan's rescue. Was all the effort worthwhile? Read on for the answer!

The weather was lovely, warm with a bit of a breeze and a light overcast, keeping the sun off the water but not threatening rain. The unfortunate absence of Danny Dance meant that the draw (and the whole of the match, to be honest) was a quieter affair than usual.

This day was a tale of lost fish, and one real shocker of a result. The pond didn't fish as well as we all know it can, 14 anglers fished and only 4 weighed in more than 10lb, there was even an empty net!

Top weight was Steve Ferris, he caught consistently all day for an unassailable 24lb 10oz from peg 20. This was 9lb clear of Les Teale, drawn opposite Steve on peg 2 who took 15lb 7oz. Next to Les on peg 3, and taking third place with 11lb 11oz, was Tony Brooker.

The empty net belonged to Gerry Austin who lost several carp, Bob Steele managed to lose 5, and Les Teale and Phil Mansbridge also lost a couple each.

The shocking result was that of Jim Routledge, normally the man to beat on the pond, who took just 2 small perch from peg 17. His catch is in the photo, but you may need a magnifying glass to see it.

It appears that the efforts to get Nathan Steele a lift was worth his while, he crept into fifth place on the day and lifted his place on the leader board to third.

Top after 4 matches is Steve Ferris with 79 points, he is 18 points clear of Derek Wilby in second with 61 points, just one point ahead of Nathan Steele.

Last year's winner, Jim Routeledge (he of the two small perch), is languishing in 12th place on 41 points, but we are only four matches in and it would be a foolish pundit to write off the chance of a comeback from a very able angler.

Onwards now to round 5, back on the pond on 14 August.

17 July 2022 Wantage & Grove Vs. The Plough - Grove pond - round 1

As is traditonal, the first leg of this two-leg inter-club contest took place on Wantage and Grove's home ground (home water - but you know what I mean!).

The day was exceptionally warm as we headed into a 40 degree heat wave over the next few days and the fish were lethargic as a consequence. Our thanks go to Danny for running the aerators overnight before the match.

The fish were generally found in the shallower, northern, end of the pond which produced the top five weights.

Taking top spot was Nathan Steele, (W&G) in peg 2 with 17lb 10oz, Gary Cramp (Plough) was exacly 3lb behind with 14lb 10oz from peg 21, Jim Routeledge (W&G) was third on peg 18, the scales reporting 14lb 3oz.

As far as the team points go, Wantage and Grove had 80 points to The Plough's 55. On paper, this looks like Wantage and Grove carry a probably insurmountable lead of 25 points into the second leg, In fact, for the last 4 years (for which I have accurate records), the winner of the first leg won the 2 leg contest. I just hope this confidence isn't tempting fate!

Onwards to the return at Hanney pond on 11 September.

2 July 2022 New Forest Challenge - Orchard Lakes

We head down south for our annual social and friendly match, there were 10 anglers for the match, 7 of us had a friendly fish-in on Friday and a relaxing evening with chat, food and drink at a local hotel. We were joined by 3 day trippers for the match itself.

I say “we” because...Yes, your correspondent was there, in the thick of things, mixing it with the match boys and girls, as a result this time you’re getting the full report, not some second hand, word of mouth version, so….read on.

The fishery has added a very professional and well stocked tackle shop and cafe, so breakfast was taken prior to the draw – there’s nothing like a bacon buttie or full English to set you up for the day!

The day itself was forecast to be windy (very windy) and so it proved but fortunately, apart from the briefest of light showers, just a few drops that passed in a matter of seconds, it stayed dry.

The windy pegs were from 2 to 10 and the twenties (all were double spaced, giving everyone loads of room). The pegs at the end of the lake, in the lee of the trees, were flat calm.

Our esteemed chair, Matt Andrew, drew the end peg flier, peg 2, with Jim Routledge on peg 4 so a little peg-on-peg competition was inevitable. Jim also had the advantage of 3 empty pegs to his right.

The all-in was delayed by 15 minutes, partly, I think, because if you let go of anything in that wind you’d never see it again, which added a little frisson to setting up.

The match started badly for Phil Mansbridge on peg 12, he managed to lose 7 of the 8 carp he hooked in the first hour which is, by any measure, a little careless of him. Phil managed to further blot his copy-book when, fishing bread shallow he managed to hook a duck, I wish I’d seen it because, by the reports I got, as Phil was trying to unhook the duck he kept getting attacked by its mate. Apparently Phil got into a right flap! Sorry, couldn’t resist that one.

The prize for fish lost overall goes, I think, to Pascal Hogan in peg 18, he had the corner of the island to cast to and the fish were queued up there. Hooking them wasn’t a problem but most were lost at the net when the hook pulled (Pascal, mate, you’ve got to set your clutch and hold the rod up).

I was on the next peg to Pascal (peg 20) and viewed this with a mixture of gloom (I was getting out fished to my left), and delight (at least they weren’t ending up in Pascal’s keepnet). I’m sorry, but I’m only human and we all experience a certain schadenfreude at times like this.

My match started well for me, fishing a method feeder a few feet short of the far bank, with a succession of crucians and small F1s, at times it looked like a jacuzzi and I do claim the largest tree branch caught, it must have been fully 4 feet long. However, after an hour the bites dried.

Meanwhile, word reached us that Matt (on the flier, remember?) was having a few and Steve Ferris on peg 16, to Pascal’s left was steadily, if not spectacularly, catching.

Around midday all went quiet, I managed to pick up a few fish with corn – shallow, including a nice carp about 4lb, a few F1s and ide, I even had a barbel. Meanwhile, Vicky Knowlson, to my right was struggling in the wind and couldn’t get any rhythm going, a couple of fish here, a couple there but no consistent thread. Word was going round that Matt Andrew had over 70lb so we were all playing catch-up.

It was in the last couple of hours that things settled into a pattern, and that pattern was “the margins”. I picked up a number of decent carp to about 4lb but none of the real 7-8lb lumps I’d taken the day before. Richard also accelerated his catch rate with a few margin carp but it was Steve Ferris, Mr Consistency himself, who quietly went to take first place with 46lb 9oz, Matt Andrew managed second, running Steve close, with 45lb 3oz (so the earlier rumours were exaggerated – a genuine mistake or a bit of gamesmanship? We’ll never know). Third was Jim Routledge, he went round at the weigh-in claiming a catch of about 10lb, but the man speak with forked-tongue! He said that last year and weighed over 40lb, and the same this year with 40lb 5oz.

As last year, I was pipped to 4th by Jim by just a matter of ounces, my 39lb 15oz was a real surprise as I’m normally reasonably good at judging my weights but this time I genuinely thought I had about 25lb.

Overall, it was a great day, everyone caught (the average weight was over 33lb), the weather stayed dry (we’ll forget about the wind) and at the end the results were fairly close.

Thanks to Bob & Vicky for organising the trip (I’ve already booked my hotel room for next year), see the social page for details.

As a post-script, for the first time ever I actually had a fish on as the “All-out” was called. In order to ensure that I took advantage of the 15 minutes allowed to land a fish I cried “Fish on”. Unfortunately it wasn’t a match winning double-figure carp but a barbel of about a pound, but I’ll take that and tick it off my bucket list.

As a second post-script, I was travelling with Nathan Steele and despite him having 3 clear pegs to his left he weighed just 15oz less than me, little mention was made of that on the way home!

19 June 2022 3rd Aggregate - Buscott Park

On paper this had all the hallmarks for being a bit of a hard day, a fantastically warm Friday with temperatures over 30 degrees followed by a precipitous drop to barely 12 degrees on the Sunday did not bode well.....And so it turned out.

Fifteen members and one invited guest fished for a total of just over 58lb. More than one third of that total came from just one angler, Nathan Steele took top honours with a splendid 20lb 15oz of carp and silvers from peg 9 (he even managed to drop 3 carp!). That put him over 16lb clear of Steve Ferris in second place from peg 7 with 4lb 11oz, just 5 ounces clear of joint third place Matt Todd and Rob Wilkinson, who both weighed in 4lb 6oz.

It was good to see Vicky back in the running after her lay-off, just a shame that she rather propped up the rest of the field on the day.

Unfortunately, our invited guest, Mark Haines, failed to bother the scales team.

Steve Ferris heads up the aggregate leader board at this stage, but it is early days and lots to play for.

22 May 2022 2nd Aggregate - Grove pond

A glorious day, warm and bright, just the day for soaking up a few rays and going brown (or red in Matt Todd's case - someone should have brought some sun cream, factor 50).

All 16 anglers caught fish although in more than one case it was a matter of what could have been.

Honours on the day went to Steve Ferris with an impressive 26lb 3oz from peg 22, coming in a full 10lb clear of Paul Harrop who was opposite Steve on peg 1, from where he took 16lb 2oz.

Third was Nathan Steele who took a lesson he learnt from the match on 27 June last year, in that one he went shallow late and narrowly missed the payouts. No such mistake this time, fishing shallow from the off in peg 17 he managed 15lb 9oz.

Our thoughts go to our long-standing chair Matt Andrew, it really wasn't his day. Drawing peg 20 he was broken by 2 carp early on, then managed to lose his top two kit and, with a crunch that could be heard all over the pond, his number 4 section crumpled under pressure of what was described as "a lump".

It also was a day for what might have been for Pascal Hogan, who managed to lose 2 good bream at the net, which would have considerably boosted his weight.

After just 2 matches the leaderboard is headed by Paul Harrop on 40 points, then there are 3 anglers on 36 but it's too early to infer anything from these results.

On now to Buscot Park on the 19 June.

8 May 2022 1st Aggregate - Grove pond

....And so it begins.

A good turnout, there were 17 anglers at the draw on a cool morning. the forecast was set fair and it didn't disappoint, warming up nicely as the day went on.

The honours on the day were taken by Bob Alder with 11lb 10oz from peg 6, Stuart Harrop was second, just 5oz behind Bob, with 11lb 5oz from peg 22. Third came from peg 3 where Derek Wilby put 10lb 10oz on the scales.

There were no empty nets, a total of just over 100lb was recorded, averaging nearly 6lb per angler.

23 March 2022 - New Match calendar published

All dates have now been finalised and the calendar published. Just a few "away" fixtures but hopefully there will be no disruption to the dates this year.
