Behaviour at the pond

Behaviour at the pond

Reports have reached the committee of poor behaviour at the pond. A couple of members who night fish (which is within the rules) are playing music (which is against the rules), drinking and smoking cannabis.

The taking of illegal drugs can bring the club into disrepute and risks Network Rail banning the club from the pond. If such behaviour is repeated the club will not hesitate to discipline the members concerned and involve the police.

Click the link below to refresh yourselves on the rules.

If you can't swim - learn or wear a life jacket.

If you need to call the emrgency services the nearest locators are:

Pond: Postcode OX12 0DJ

What3words: "outgrown.observe.thankful".

Colmoor Farm: Postcode OX14 3DU

In both cases the What3words location is the carpark.

2 Rods

2 Rods

The club allows the use of 2 rods on the pond.

However, Envionment Agency law requires anglers to have "sufficient control" at all times. This is not possible if you are fishing a pole and have a rod out to "fish for itself", especailly if this is a crust in the lilies for the carp.

Please use your common sense otherwise the club will revisit the rule allowing 2 rods.

Rats

Rats

As happens every year, it is likely that the rat population at the pond will increase through October.

The club will not take undertake the sisyphean task of trying to control the population by poisioning, trapping or shooting. As the colder weather arrives in November the population will self-correct and fall back to normal.

In the meanwhile it will help if there is no food left for them - please clear your swim of all dropped bait before you leave.
