Behaviour at the pond
Reports have reached the committee of poor behaviour at the pond. A couple of members who night fish (which is within the rules) are playing music (which is against the rules), drinking and smoking cannabis.
The taking of illegal drugs can bring the club into disrepute and risks Network Rail banning the club from the pond. If such behaviour is repeated the club will not hesitate to discipline the members concerned and involve the police.

As happens every year, it is likely that the rat population at the pond will increase through October.
The club will not take undertake the sisyphean task of trying to control the population by poisioning, trapping or shooting. As the colder weather arrives in November the population will self-correct and fall back to normal.
In the meanwhile it will help if there is no food left for them - please clear your swim of all dropped bait before you leave.

Swift Ditch Reopened
Swift ditch is now open for fishing.
Don't park in the car-park at the bottom of the lane but use the hard-standing at the top, make sure that you are not likely to impede the passing of agricultural vehicles.
Note that the landlords are still in disapute with each other so if you experience any issues please act calmly, leave the fishery if necessary and report the incident to the club.

The club allows the use of 2 rods on the pond.
However, Envionment Agency law requires anglers to have "sufficient control" at all times. This is not possible if you are fishing a pole and have a rod out to "fish for itself", especailly if this is a crust in the lilies for the carp.
Please use your common sense otherwise the club will revisit the rule allowing 2 rods.

Illegal stocking of fish to the pond
In order to prevent the introduction of diseases the club will take action against any member found to be introducing fish or other aquatic animals to the pond without the appropriate permissions.
Please be in no doubt that, if necessary, the club will use the full force of the law to protect the stock in the pond.

Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme
Many thanks to Steve Ferris for organising this. The line collected this year has now been sent for recycling.
Please keep collecting your old line and place in the bin at the pond (or bring to the meetings) and it will be included in next year's batch.
Thanks for everyone's support for this scheme.

Lyme Disease (and others)
As summer approaches the chance of tick bites and the associated risk of Lyme disease increases. There are also a host of other diseases that you should be aware of, see the simple guide for prevention and medical tips.
This is not comprehensive, if in any doubt seek medical advice.

Unofficial swim on the pond
The club has received requests to improve the temporary or unofficial swim on the pond. This is the very first swim you come to as you drive in, before the first platform (swim No 1).
This swim is not an official swim and the club has no intention of making improvements.
