Swift Ditch Closed
Due to an ongoing legal dispute between the 2 land owners at Colmoor Farm regarding access rights the club has decided to close Swift Ditch until the matter is resolved.
W&GAC are not involved directly in the dispute but it obviously has an effect on our ability to use the fishery. The decision to close the fishery is to allow (hopefully) the antagonists to come to a peaceable resolution.

Safety First - What3words
Following a possibly tragic event at the pond recently the club reminds all members that all fisheries can be dangerous places.
If you can't swim - learn or wear a life jacket.
If you need to call the emrgency services the nearest locators are:
Pond: Postcode OX12 0DJ
Colmoor Farm: Postcode OX14 3DU
In both cases the What3words location is the carpark.

Disabled Access Platform
Further to the award of the funding by the BDAA for some disabled platforms, these will be installed at pegs 3, 4 & 5.
The work is taking the BDAA longer than anticiapted and the contractors still have work to do.
The pond will be open during this period but, for health and safety reasons, members MUST NOT fish pegs 1-10 whist the contractors are working on site.

Rules & Constitution
There is a change to the constitution. It used to be that the club was limited to 200 members, this is changed to 200 adult members, thereby allowing junior members to get a ticket to accompany their parents without having to join the waiting list.
7 April 2021
There are no work parties currently planned, however, there is still a deal of work needed and a new work party wil be scheduled as soon as appropriate.
Please go to the working party page for more details.

Who knows what the government will allow us to do.
At the moment the committee are meeting via Skype.
As soon as we regular meetings are allowed we'll update the membership.
In the meanwhile - keep up to date with proceedings by looking at the summary of the meeting minutes
20 Dec 2020
The club allows the use of 2 rods on the pond.
However, Envionment Agency law requires anglers to have "sufficient control" at all times. This is not possible if you are fishing a pole and have a rod out to "fish for itself", especailly if this is a crust in the lilies for the carp.
Please use your common sense otherwise the club will revisit the rule allowing 2 rods.

Illegal stocking of fish to the pond
In order to prevent the introduction of diseases the club will take action against any member found to be introducing fish or other aquatic animals to the pond without the appropriate permissions.
Please be in no doubt that, if necessary, the club will use the full force of the law to protect the stock in the pond.

Recycling Fishing Line
Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme
Many thanks to Steve Ferris for organising this. The line collected this year has now been sent for recycling.
Please keep collecting your old line and place in the bin at the pond (or bring to the meetings) and it will be included in next year's batch.
Thanks for everyone's support for this scheme.

Lyme Disease (and others)
As summer approaches the chance of tick bites and the associated risk of Lyme disease increases. There are also a host of other diseases that you should be aware of, see the simple guide for prevention and medical tips.
This is not comprehensive, if in any doubt seek medical advice.

Please, do not pass the code to anyone outside of the club.

As happens every year, the rat population at the pond has fallen to normal level. There are still one or two "resident" animals but nothing like the numbers seen during October.
The request to not leave them food still applies, please clear your swim of all dropped bait before you leave.

Unofficial swim on the pond
The club has received requests to improve the temporary or unofficial swim on the pond. This is the very first swim you come to as you drive in, before the first platform (swim No 1).
This swim is not an official swim and the club has no intention of making improvements.

Introducing Water Plants
Further to the item about illegal fish stocking the unapproved introduction of water plants to the pond is also a disciplinary matter.
The only thing to go into the pond is your end tackle, bait/groundbait, landing net and, in matches, your keep net.
